Festive Fun
January 10, 2020We’ve had a busy and wonderfully festive December!
It started with the MAECare Warblers entertaining residents at Yew Tree Court with a selection of favourite carols.
This was followed by the Allerton High Christmas Party, an annual event organised by local High School pupils for 100 of our members. Hosted by the school, it included a Christmas tea, quiz and a dance to those Christmas favourites.

Film Friday offered a day of Andre Rieu films, ‘Christmas with the Vienna Boy’s Choir’, ‘The Christmas I love’, and ‘Home for Christmas’.
The Cats Pyjama’s, a one woman show, performed ‘Let it Snow’ at St Barnabas Church Hall; this was followed in the evening by the Elysian Singers Christmas Concert who raised £100 for MAECare.
Our monthly Art class got decorative and creative, making Christmas cards.
We had an evening trip to Leeds Grand to watch the Northern Ballet perform ‘Cinderella’.

It culminated with a festive meal for 25 of our service users who were less likely to have family or company at Christmas. Funded by the Leeds Community Foundation Seasonal Loneliness Fund, Westward Care provided an excellent 2 course meal and Stevie Fields the entertainment, singing a selection of songs and performing on the smallest stage ever. There was even room for a little dancing!

A huge thanks to our many volunteers who helped to make this happen.
