Friendly Visiting Scheme

This scheme enables isolated older people to enjoy some conversation and companionship in their own home.
MAECare is approached for the Friendly Visiting service by various other agencies, family members or, indeed, by the elderly persons themselves.
Volunteers are individually matched with their member and usually visit every couple of weeks.  In some cases a MAECare visitor might be the only contact with the outside world.  For this reason, volunteers are requested to keep a record of their visit and are asked to report back to the office if they have any concerns so that a member of staff can take appropriate follow up action.
